What are QR Codes?

A QR code is a 2 two-dimensional code, similar to a bar code. Unlike a bar code which represents data horizontally a QR code shows data both vertically and horizontally.

QR codes were original developed in Japan in 1994 to track motor vehicle parts.

QR is an abbreviation for Quick Response.

To scan these codes you may need to download an app to your phone. There are many of these available for free. For example you could try i-nigma but there are plenty of alternatives to choose from.

With the recent rise in the use of smart phones with built in camera's QR codes have been identified as an ideal marketing tool.
